People I Know (In reverse alphabetical order, because I've been an "S" all my life!)
- Ben Ostrowsky
- My former co-worker (i must resist this is not alt.folklore.urban i cannot spell it cow-orker) and at the time, the LIS department's resident BOFH (at least according to his jacket.)
- Brian Geiger
- The friend with the impressive résumé.
- Chris Curzio
- E2's [Accipiter] and a very sweet guy to noders passing through his city.
Time Wasters
My favorite authors:
- The home page for usf.misc, one of the few newsgroups I ever bothered to post to on a somewhat regular basis. This is more of a nostalgia thing, as I no longer have access to USF newsgroups, and it had been dormant for quite a while before that because everyone else graduated and no longer had access.
- This is True -- the mailing list with the most unbelievable REAL events you've ever heard about.
- Everything 2 -- it's like writing your own encyclopedia (with other people contributing the bits you don't know about)
- Sluggy Freelance -- the first online comic in my daily read.
- Kevin and Kell -- the next online comic for my daily read.
- Unshelved -- another online comic, you get the picture.
- Two Lumps -- online comic about the Odd Couple in feline form.
- Disturbing Search Requests -- if you really want to know what kind of things people search for on the Web.
- My Friends page at LiveJournal -- other people's lives that I want to keep up with.
- Mediachest -- Yes, I am actually entering every single one of my books, CDs, and DVDs here. (And the booklist is FAR longer than the list of All The Music I Own.)
- LibraryThing -- having already entered them all at Mediachest, copying all my books to LibraryThing is not at all difficult.
- Diane Duane/Owl Springs Partnership
- Susie Bright -- One of the most informative and interesting writers on sexual matters I've ever read.
- Cecil Adams, of The Straight Dope, source of information on all things:
Personal pages of people I don't actually know.
- E. Stephen Mack's Page Interesting, especially the Left-Handers' Page.
- Bev White, aka Wednesday Wow.
- C. J. Silverio Please do read more than the Web Rant.
Random Stuff
- Urbanlegends.com, the FAQ for alt.folklore.urban and a great reference when you get those stories and warnings sent to you by friends and cow-orkers.
- The Cycles Page: Keep track of your menstrual cycle online! (I do.)
- Encyclopedia Fakebandica -- This is so much fun; it lists all the fake bands that have been in movies, TV shows, etc.
- The Covers Project -- Who covered that song? Who originally did it? A massively informational site, growing all the time.
- Always wanted to have Mulder for yourself? Check out MulderClones R Us!
- Into My Life: This is, very simply, the most absorbing fanfic I have ever read. An online novel about the Beatles, basically a romance with Paul McCartney as the male lead, which one almost wishes were the real story of their lives.
Sleep First, Work Later: A site that reflects my view of life.
- Ribbon-O-Matic -- Make your own ribbons for real or imagined campaigns.
- "Jabberwocky" references -- one of my favorite poems. Links to nearly everything named after anything in the poem, plus where to find translations into other languages.
- Etiquette Hell -- stories of the depths of rudeness people can sink to.
- And The Bride Wore... -- a hilarious look at odd things to wear to a wedding.
- Baby's Named A Bad, Bad Thing -- even more astounding things to name some poor kid.
- Cheerwine -- One of the worst things about living in Florida is that it's difficult to buy my favorite soft drink here.
- The Blowfish Home Page: All the merchandise you can't find anyplace in the Mall.
- One of the places my résumé currently resides:
